Ryan O’Hearn checks in for the third time with Clubhouse Conversation and continues to rise up through the Royals system and prospect ranks at a speedy rate (unanimous Top 10 mid-season Royals prospect). Selected in the 8th round of the 2014 draft out of Sam Houston State, O’Hearn was the Pioneer League MVP that summer after leading the league in runs, hits, OPS and slugging percentage. A year ago, O’Hearn cranked 27 home runs with an .817 OPS at Lexington/Wilmington and as of June 24th, the left handed slugger has a combined 14 home runs and .949 OPS between Wilmington and Northwest Arkansas, where he currently plays first base.
