July 18: 5-4 L To Red Sox – .500 Is As .500 Does — 1 Comment

  1. Yeah, they’re not finishing out the stretch 19 games over .500. Hoping for that (which the org seems to be doing as often as it gets invoked) is foolish.

Has it really been that surprising that they’re roughly a .500 team though? It looked like they were an 84-win (or so) team before the season. For all the players who have struggled, there have also been guys who have outperformed expectations.

Shields definitely looked gassed. He probably should have come out after the Bogaerts dong hanging on the 104th pitch.

The shittiest thing about all of this, of course, is that this is about as good as it’ll get, as there’s no real payroll flexibility going forward.
