Lindy McDaniel

The Royals traded Lou Piniella and Ken Wright to acquire Lindy McDaniel on December 7th, 1973. A former All-Star relief pitcher with the Cardinals, McDaniel threw a curve and fork ball that also made him successful with the Cubs, Giants and Yankees. 6-3 and right handed, Lindy spent two years in KC (1974-1975) and finished with a Royals record of 6-5, 3.75 ERA and 2 saves. For his career, McDaniel pitched 21 years at the MLB level, appearing in 987 games with a 141-119 record, 3.45 ERA and 174 saves. He recently joined Dave O to tell several never before told stories about not playing organized baseball until age 15, being in the Big Leagues by 19, how coming over to the Royals ended up not working out and lots more! Aaron Brooks

Aaron Brooks has pitched in Kansas City during each of the past two seasons and brings to KC a resume that includes being “Pitcher of the Year” two times during his minor league stints (Omaha, 2014; Northwest Arkansas, 2013). A 9th round selection of the Royals in the 2011 June Amateur Draft, Brooks is known for his ability to eat innings while possessing pinpoint control. He recently joined Dave O to talk about how “pitching with conviction” has taken his career to the next level throughout the last year, how he handled and got over the heart break last season in his start at Toronto, how good it felt rebounding against the Yankees on Saturday and lots more, including a detailed look at his growth from high school to today! Steve Stemle

Steve Stemle pitched for Kansas City from 2005-2006, appearing in 11 games out of the Royals bullpen. A 6-4 right hander, Stemle was originally picked by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 5th round of the 1998 draft and spent a total of eight seasons pitching professionally. Stemle recently joined Dave O to talk about the unfortunate elbow, neck and back injuries that ended his career prematurely, how much he appreciated and enjoyed his times with the Royals organization, the new baseball app he’s invented and much more! Andrew Edwards

Andrew Edwards was selected by the Royals in the 19th round of the 2013 June Amateur Draft out of Western Kentucky University. A 6-6 right hander, Edwards has spent the past two summers pitching for Burlington, Lexington and Wilmington, where he begins the 2015 campaign. He recently joined Dave O to talk about his sudden increase in velocity after working out with Sean Manaea and Tripp Davis, the bus trip with Lexington that turned into the worst night of his life, his favorite current pitcher to watch (who is in KC) and lots more! Harry Dunlop

Harry Dunlop was a coach with the Royals from 1969-1975 and overall, spent parts of 21 seasons at the Big League level. A former minor league catcher, Dunlop once caught three no-hitters in a two week period while with the 1952 Bristol Twins. Following his times in KC, he worked at the MLB level with the Cubs, Reds, Padres and Marlins. Dunlop recently joined Dave O to tell marvelous baseball story after marvelous baseball story, including incredible tales about his minor league playing days, the unique way he was told he got the coaching job in Kansas City, flocks of Royals memories and much more! *** NOTE *** Interview is 2 hours of fascinating content, including well over an hour about the Royals. Dominique Taylor

Dominique Taylor was a 15th round selection of the Royals in the 2013 June Amateur Draft out of UC Irvine. A 6-1 outfielder with multiple plus tools, Taylor has begun his minor league career by hitting over .300 at both of his first two stops, including an appearance in the 2014 Sally League All-Star game (where he was the MVP). Taylor recently joined Dave O to talk about many of his Wilmington teammates, the game he and his Father would play growing up that helped him sharpen his baseball skills, the old school rap Dave O found from Taylor online, the cool story of how he met his girlfriend and lots more! Bill Pecota

Bill Pecota was drafted by the Royals in the 10th round of the 1981 draft and played in 445 games for KC from 1986-1991. Primarily a utility infielder while with KC, “I-29” played all nine positions in the Big Leagues and finished up his career with the Mets and Braves. Pecota is perhaps made most famous thanks to Baseball Prospectus and the PECOTA player forecasting system it named after him. He recently joined Dave O to talk about the shock in being drafted, where the nickname “I-29” came from, the heartbreak in being traded from KC to New York, his thoughts on the PECOTA system and lots more! Jorge Bonifacio

Jorge Bonifacio heads into the 2015 season as a Northwest Arkansas Natural and a consensus Top 10 Royals Prospect (#9 Baseball America, #10 Baseball Prospectus). Still just 21 years of age, the right fielder was originally signed by the Royals as a non-drafted free agent in December of 2009 out of the Dominican Republic, and is the younger brother of former Royal and current White Sox player Emilio Bonifacio. Jorge recently joined Dave O to talk about how close he is with Emilio, how fellow Royals minor leaguer Jack Lopez helped him learn English, what he wants to improve on most this year and much, much more! Tommy Davis

Tommy Davis played 18 years at the Big League level, including part of the 1976 season in Kansas City. A two-time World Series champion (1963 & 1965) and two time All-Star and NL batting champion, Davis saw his best MLB season in 1962 with the Dodgers, when he hit .346 to go along with 230 hits, 27 home runs and 153 RBI. For his career, the right handed hitting slugger finished with 2,121 hits, 153 home runs, 1,052 RBI’s and a batting average of .294. He recently joined Dave O to talk about the role that Jackie Robinson played in him choosing to sign with the Dodgers over the Yankees, his favorite memories of edging Frank Robinson and Roberto Clemente for batting crowns, winning the World Series in LA, his brief times in KC and much more! Ethan Chapman

Ethan Chapman was drafted by the Royals in the 30th round of the 2012 June Amateur Draft out of Cal State San Bernardino, where he was a teammate of fellow Royal Aaron Brooks. A left handed hitting speedy outfielder, Chapman has steadily moved up the Royals ranks after being named the 2012 Idaho Falls Player of the Year. Ethan is currently with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and recently joined Dave O to talk about growing up an Angels fan, meeting Rex Hudler in his younger years, the honor of being drafted by KC, the funny time he and his Idaho Falls teammates had their hotel reservations lost and ended up in a seedy situation and lots more!
